Powergate II rakennustyöt

Nordisk Renting finances Wärtsilä’s new Powergate II office

On 15 June 2018, Nordisk Renting acquired all ownership shares in KOy Puotikuja 2 Vaasa from Oy Vaasa Parks Ab. Wärtsilä can later, under pre-determined conditions, either buy back the property or extend the rental period further when the agreed fixed-term agreement expires.

The property is divided into three parts. Construction work on the first buildings, A and B, began about a year ago in collaboration between Wärtsilä and Vaasa Parks. The A-building was completed in early June. The B-building is expected to be completed in September-October 2018 and the C-building in the autumn of 2019. Vaasa Parks is the real estate developer for the C-building, as well as for A and B.

When the new complex is ready, around 900 of the approximately 3,000 Wärtsilä employees in Vaasa will be able to move under the same roof. The property will also include a strategically important global remote monitoring centre for Wärtsilä. The total area of the office property is approximately 16,700 square meters. When planning and designing the property, environmental factors have been taken into account, so that a building environmental classification certification can be apply for later on. In addition, an extensive solar energy system on the south façade and the roof helps to reduce the amount of energy purchased.

“Through close collaboration with Nordisk Renting and Vaasa Parks, we have succeeded in creating a competitive and flexible solution that enables us to develop our business under excellent conditions,” says Vesa Riihimäki, CEO of Wärtsilä Finland Oy.

“We are proud to have had the opportunity to collaborate with Wärtsilä on this project and to be able to offer them a solution that advances their future operations,” says Caroline Bertlin, CEO of Nordisk Renting.

“Nordisk Rentings’ interest in investing in the operating environment of a globally active energy technology company such as Wärtsilä in Vaasa strengthens our conviction that we are on the right track when we proactively invest in improving the conditions for companies to operate in Finland,” says Ulla Mäki -Lohiluoma, CEO of Oy Vaasa Parks Ab.

Powergate II is being built in the Vaasa Airport Park business park, which employs around 4,000 people. Vaasa Airport Park is located near Vaasa Airport and is only about 10 minutes away from the centre of Vaasa.
